Nach zwei Jahren Landbaustudium und einer dreijährigen Beschäftigung als Kartograph, besuchte er von 1983-89 die Fachhochschule für Kunst und Design in Köln.
Studierte dort Fotografie und
Visuelle Kommunikation u. a. bei Arno Jansen u. Robert van Ackeren.
Wesentlich für sein Schaffen sind Produktionen, die neue Formen des Zusammenspiels von zeitgenössischer Musik mit Licht und Farbe aus dem Blickwinkel eines Gesamtkunstwerks eröffnen. In Kooperation mit verschiedenen Musikgruppen entwickelt Theo Lustig eine Projektions-Animationstechnik zur Bewegung statischer Lichtbilder.
Schwerpunkt seiner Arbeit ist die Koppelung von Akustischem und Visuellem:
Bildabläufe, die vom Rhythmus der Musik gesteuert sind.
Weiterhin ist es die Verschiebung und Auflösung vorhandener Dimensionen zur
Erzeugung illusionärer Räumlichkeiten. Insgesamt ist sein künstlerisches Werk geprägt von Tendenzen innovativer Grenzüberschreitung. |

After two years of studying agriculture and a three-year-long employment as a cartographer he attended the School of Fine Arts in Cologne from 1983 to 1989. There he studied photography and visual communication there, among others with Prof. Arno Jansen and Robert van Ackeren.
Essential for his work are productions that open up new forms of the interplay of contemporary music with light and colour from the perspective of a total work of art. In cooperation with various music groups, Theo Lustig develops a projection animation technique for the movement of static light images.
His work focuses on the coupling of the acoustic and the visual – image sequences controlled by the rhythm of the music – as well as the displacement and dissolution of existing dimensions to create illusionary spaces.
